Dementia and Sleep Disorders

Dementia is a blanket term that refers to a cohort of pathophysiological conditions. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. Other examples of dementia include vascular dementiaLewy body dementiaParkinson’s diseaseShy-Drager syndrome, Huntington’s diseasealcohol-related dementiaAIDS-related dementia and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Common symptoms of dementia include progressive loss of cognitive functions such as memory, social skills and emotional reactions.
